27 October 2025 – Parcent to Murla

Lovely clear blue sky for our Monday walk

Sunday has been wet, grey and miserable

Which made us appreciate the sunny morning all the more

There were 25 of us today

About one third had not done this walk before

This is not a walk anyone is likely to find on their own

So the new members were in for a treat

I was a little concerned that the normally dry river might be difficult to cross

But in fact we could cross quite easily without getting wet

This is one of those walks with a variety of terrain

Including this lovely wooded section

Pierre and Lorraine were rightly proud of the wild pomegranate they picked

We had done this walk exactly two years earlier, and also found some fruit then

As always we had our banana break outside Murla church

It was quite shady there and only just warm enough to be comfortable

So we had a relatively short break

We used a slightly different route to return to Parcent

Fortunately the river was even easier to cross

We had 25 on the walk today

So once more we had to have a back marker

David accepted the task again

And all accepted the pace to keep everyone together

We usually have our after walk drink in the Cooperativa

But it is closed due to new management

Fortunately Blanca Bikes bar was open

And had plenty of room for us all to sit together

Temperature – 13-20c

Time Taken – 3.5 hours

Distance – 9 km

20 October 2025 – Lliber Zoo

28 of us walking today

I think this is the largest group we have led so far

We like to keep the numbers from 16 to 20

But we have had a lot of new members since the end of summer

We have also had a lot of non residents visiting at the same time

We only had 18 last week, which shows how much it can change from one week to the next

Also there are four regular members missing this week

So it could easily have been 32 walking today

We were lucky to have a lovely sunny morning

This follows three weeks of overcast and wet weather

So the sun was particularly appreciated

The group photo looks more like a coach trip than a Monday Ramblers walk

With such a large group it is impossible to see what is happening at the back

So I was pleased when David offered to do “back marker”

At the start of the walk I reminded everyone that we walk at the pace of the slowest

And that the only way I can do that is if they don’t overtake me

Again more important with such a large group

And I was pleased that no one did

Before we left the square Jan told the bar staff that there would be a large group today

They don’t like us to move the tables, and it can be difficult to sit the group together

Today they reserved enough tables so that we could group together

They also asked us t o get our own drinks from the bar

Which we were pleased to do

The last thing we want to do is upset the bar and not be welcome when we visit again

Lucky we did tell them

Because it was crowded and we would have had problems finding any tables

We spent about an hour sitting in the square

A lovely end to a lovely walk

Walking down our favourite street to the car park

Temperature – 20-25c

Time Taken – 3 hours

Distance – 9 km
